Most low-cost ozone generators sold online use ceramic plates, while Forever Ozone builds around quartz tube technology. (Ceramic plate electrodes wear down with use; patent US 6,024,930 notes the metal electrodes can vaporize in high heat.) Budget mini quartz tube machines are now common too. When you compare any of them, these are the design points worth checking: 1) is it built for long service life, 2) does the tube design limit unwanted byproducts such as nitrogen oxides, and 3) are the high-voltage tubes spaced far enough apart to prevent arcing?
The mini-quartz tubes used in our Commercial Windowsill 60g Windowsill machine have ample spacing. This spacing allows for proper airflow and prevents arcing.
Our mini-quartz tube technology resembles a UV bulb. All quartz tube with a highly wound coil inside and a coil out to create the di-electric charge. Our 10g Quartz tubes feature stainless steel mesh on the inside and outside, the same ozone producing tech Nicola Tesla invented. Theirs uses a metal bolt on the inside wound with mesh on the outside that is connected to the adjacent tubes without proper spacing.
Tube spacing matters. When high-voltage tubes sit close together and are wired directly to each other, arcing and heat can wear the tubes and transformer faster. Output claims are worth a second look too: in our own testing, a properly spaced, true quartz mini tube produces just over 3 grams of ozone per hour, so be cautious of listings that claim much more per tube.
There’s an old saying: ‘Cheap things are expensive.’ One design detail to look for is where the on-off switch and timer sit. If they are inside the unit, they are exposed to high ozone levels, and thin copper contacts can corrode until the machine stops working. External controls, quality wiring and good airflow are what make an ozone generator last.
That’s how we build ours. Our ozone generators are designed and assembled in the USA, and we back them with a lifetime warranty. About 20,000 customers have bought from us since 2010.
Before you buy any ozone generator, check the build quality and safety design: tube spacing, where the switch and timer are, how the high-voltage wiring is protected, and whether real support is available. Questions? Call or text 501-654-4330, 9 AM to 5 PM Central, Monday to Friday.
